Frequently Asked Questions

1.

How does compression garments affect athletic performance and recovery?
Compression garments may positively affect many kinds of athletic performance. They stimulate proprioceptive receptors in our muscles, thereby improving proprioceptive feedback and better balance. They help facilitate muscle contraction, and keep muscle compact and solid which leads to enhancement of explosive power for vertical jumps, sprint or direction changes. Compression garments absorb shocks, reduce muscular vibration and hence delay muscle fatigue while keeping you safer from injuries. They also accelerate blood circulation, bring oxygen quickly to the muscles and eliminate lactic acid faster. And therefore faster recovery.

2.

How does compression garments facilitate recovery after exercise?

Our muscles are considerably damaged after intense exercise. Blood circulation becomes negatively affected: oxygen supply is hampered and drainage of lactic acid and other toxin slows down. Their concentration remains high in the muscle and may impair recovery and subsequent performances. Compression garments applies pressure on the veins and increase the rate of blood flow to the heart. This guarantees more oxygen for your muscle, faster elimination of lactic acid and consequently better recovery.

3.

What is the product lifetime?

This is highly dependant on the usage and the maintenance of the product. Generally speaking, a pair of Titan product can last a year when used once a week. Socks need to be cleaned weekly to reduce the chance of foot infection by bacteria or fungi.

4.

Who do Titan products shed cotton and pill easily?

Because Titan insists on using cotton as our preferred primary material. Cotton is a staple fiber material, and it is normal to lose cotton and pill, and the situation will gradually improve after several washes. The reason why cotton is considered by textile material experts as the material of choice for sports socks is that cotton staple fiber provides excellent friction and grip, which can reduce sports injuries and enhance athletic performance. Chemically reproduced textile fibre materials do not provide this excellent feature. They have long fiber, solid surface structure, do not easily lose cotton, but cause slips during exercise and hence lower limb sports injury. Chemical fiber is not as soft, comfortable and absorbent as cotton. They do not wick perspiration as well as cotton, and have higher tendency to grow mold and produce foot odour.

5.

What is combed cotton? Why does Titan products use combed cotton?

Natural cotton's not as homogenous as man-made fibers. Combed cotton uses a combing machine that removes the shorter fibers of cotton fibers and leaves longer and neater fibers, making it possible to spin finer, better-quality fibers. Combed cotton is the primary material for Titan products. This makes Titan products wear comfortable, while protecting the foot from injury during exercise.

7.

Why does my new socks not wick as well as the old ones?

Natural cotton are coated with wax before they are soaked into socks, so newer ones will wick poorer and feel more slippery than the old ones. It is suggested that new socks can be washed several times before wearing to improve the situation.

8.

The socks look thick and warm.

The thickness of the Titan products is necessary for the prevention of sports injuries. Areas which do not require thick fabric for protection (such as the toe gaps, arch and ankle bends) are replaced with breathable mesh. So the socks are comfortable and not warm for use.

12.

Can I wash my socks in the washing machine?

Products can be washed and tumbled dry in a washing machine. They are made of elastic fabric. It is hence recommended to place them in a washing bag to reduce damage to the materials.

13.

It is advised not to twist my socks. How do I hand wash it then?

Socks can be hand-washed, and can be pressed dry or put into a washing machine to tumble dry. It is advised not to twist hard on the socks as this may damage the elastic fibers of the material and reduce it lifetime.

14.

Will the socks become loose after a few wash?

The elastic part of the Titan products is made of DuPont Lycra fiber, which has a good elasticity, hugs skin well and comfortably, and does not cause skin itch after long wear. The material will not deteriorate after multiple washes or prolong wear.
